HOW DID EPIPHANY START?
The band originally started as a conceptual project from 2013 when Guitarist Jeremy Hook created the idea of Epiphany to serve as an outlet for his creative endeavors and musical experimentation.
Jeremy has been writing music for a long time for a variety of instruments including bass, drums, and guitar. When he started to share compositions with other musician friends of his, Jeremy found they were surprisingly popular. Using feedback provided from his close friends, Jeremy had eventually composed a few songs which he thought would be great to play live for an audience. He began to contemplate the idea of forming a band with some of his friends in an effort to bring together a lot of the amazing local talent he had met while living in different parts of Virginia.
Chris and Ryan both knew Jeremy since grade school growing up in Northern Virginia, and they had all previously jammed together in high school bands and projects. They were all eager to participate in another band project. Seamus was the last addition to the ensemble, having been brought onboard when the other three discovered him to be an amazing songwriter and guitarist in his own right.
WHAT DOES EPIPHANY'S MUSIC SOUND LIKE?
The self-titled first release of the band debuted in 2018 and was written by Jeremy Hook. Epiphany is primarily influenced by film and video game scores, with the band’s goal being to focus on powerful melodic influences that paint scenes in the listener’s mind. The goal of most of Epiphany’s songs is to elicit emotion with the music, especially with live performances. Most of Epiphany’s song are thematic in nature.
Jeremy Hook, the band’s frontman explains, “When we create each song we start with an initial idea, then expand upon that with the composition. We have a clear vision or story we are trying to tell without using lyrics. As a result, each person potentially gets a different impression of the music which makes it more engaging with the audience.”
The band writes, records, and distributes its own music without a label. This is part of their Do-It-Yourself ethos to music production and art. Many of the songs by the band blend genres and influences. When you listen to songs by the band like “Acceptance” and “Liar’s Lullaby” you can easily see the classical and flamenco influence to the songs, mixing effortlessly with the sounds of familiar metal riffs and jazz-inspired solos. The band cites inspiration from groups like Animals as Leaders, John Mayer, and Metallica among others.

WHAT ARE EPIPHANY'S PLANS FOR 2019?
Epiphany’s main goal for 2019 is to release two experimental EP’s. The two EP’s “Will be exploring the two different sides of the same one coin.” says band founder Jeremy Hook. The addition of Seamus to the band will be a big factor to the changes in the sound of Epiphany and its creative approaches to music. “I’m really excited to see what happens in 2019.” Jeremy smiles before continuing on, “Other band members will be adding more to the creative process with these releases. The first album was based on a lot of compositions I had begun when Epiphany was a studio project, but now that the project has evolved the music will reflect that.”
Currently, Epiphany is focused on its studio production efforts.
